Classroom Training - Frequently Asked Questions

How much do classes cost?

The cost per attendee is provided for each class in the details. An early registration discount is offered. Register by 11:59pm EST thirty (30) calendar days prior to the start of class to receive a 5% discount.

Are special hotel room rates offered during training?

Yes, if you are joining us for class in our hometown of Franklin, NC, area lodging can be found here.

We also provide a small block of rooms with a group rate at each of the hotels when we are on location.  The number of rooms available in the block is limited, so after you have registered for the training, we encourage you to plan your travel and accommodations as soon as possible.

What is your refund policy?

Refund requests must be sent in writing to the Drake Software Education Department via mail, fax, or e-mail. Refunds will not be granted by phone. Drake will make a full refund for any request received 10 business days before the scheduled start of the first day of training. Any cancellation received 5-9 business days prior to the start will receive a 50% refund. No refunds on cancellations will be given if received fewer than 5 business days before the scheduled start of the training.

Live Webcast - Full refunds requested in writing within 72 hours of the purchase date. To cancel a registration to the Live Webcast, please email cancellation request to Registrants who are "no-shows" for the Live Webcast will not qualify for a refund.

NOTE: We reserve the right to cancel any class 30 calendar days prior to the start of class for any reason, including lack of registrations and/or attendance. If applicable, we will contact you immediately at that time.

Do I have to bring a laptop to class?

Note: If a laptop is required, it will be indicated in the class details.

Laptops are required to participate in the lab portion of the Drake Accounting 101 class (needed for day 1 and day 2, afternoons only).

While not required, laptops are recommended for Drake Essentials, so you can follow along with the lessons in Drake Tax.

Is breakfast or lunch provided during training?

Breakfast and lunch are not provided, so please plan accordingly. Water, coffee, and hot tea are offered throughout the day. You will have a one-hour break for lunch.

In Franklin only, we offer a boxed lunch at a separate cost of $10 per day. Orders and payment will be taken on the day of class.  Cash or check is accepted.

Can I schedule a tour of the Drake facilities if I attend training in Franklin?

During your visit with us, we will have scheduled tours.

Can I earn CPE credit for attending Classroom Training? If so, who are you registered with?

CPE credit is available for each class offered. Click the CPE Details to determine the number of available CPE credits for each class.

Drake Software is registered with IRS, NASBA, CTEC, and the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.  Please review the regulations in your state of licensure to ensure that credits will be accepted.

Live Webcast - What are the registration options (single attendee vs. group)?

When registering for a webcast, choose to register individual attendees or a proctored group.

Individual attendees – Choose this option to register one or more individual attendees who will watch the webcast separately from their own computers. A unique email address must be provided for each individual attendee. Each attendee receives a confirmation email with webcast access information. Individual attendees receive continuing education credits based on their response to attendance monitoring during the webcast.

Proctored group – Choose this option if two or more attendees will be viewing the webcast together from one computer. A group must include a group administrator (the group proctor) and one or more proctored attendees (maximum of 10). The group proctor registers himself or herself and each proctored attendee, but only the proctor receives a confirmation email with access to the webcast. (A unique email address must be provided for each attendee registered.) The group proctor accesses the webcast for the group and is awarded continuing education credits based on his or her response to attendance monitoring during the webcast. After the event, the group proctor certifies that the other members of the group were in attendance and the proctored attendees receive an email with their continuing education certificate details.

Live Webcast - What are the System Requirements?

Webcasts are viewed in your computer's Internet browser. To hear the audio, you need speakers or headphones. A high-speed Internet connection is also required. Webcasts are currently not available for viewing on a mobile device. To test your system before the event, go to

Internet Connection - We recommend an Internet download speed of at least 5Mbps. Use hard wired connections to minimize bandwidth fluctuations that can cause audio/video breaks.

Supported Operating Systems - Microsoft Windows Vista and above/Apple OS X 10.7 and above, if browser supports Adobe Flash Player version 10.3 or later. Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge include Flash Player by default. Internet Explorer and Firefox require the Flash Player plug-in. Get the latest version of Flash Player from

Live Webcast - How is continuing education awarded for attending a webcast

Attendees receive continuing education credits based on their designation and response to attendance monitoring during the webcast. Respond to 75% or more of the presence manager pop-ups during the presentation to confirm your participation. Within 24-48 hours after the webcast, participants will receive an email with instructions for accessing continuing education credit certificates. 

Partial credit - Attendees who attend only part of the webcast may request partial credit for the time attended by submitting a CPE time sheet. Complete the CPE time sheet and email a scanned copy to or fax 828-349-5713.
